Change Questions – Do you want to?  Would you?  Can you?

Do you want to Change?

The first step in making changes is to recognise that you have something in your life you want to change.

Change has no chance of happening if you don’t want it at the subconscious level.  change willpower conscious mind unconscious mind subconscious mind

This is why will power is never enough.

To better descibe this lets use the iceberg analogy.

The tip of the iceberg represents your consciousness.

These are the aspects of ourselves and our environment that we are aware of.

The greater bulk of the iceberg lies beneath the surface.  This represents the aspects of our existence that we are unaware of.

The power of the subconscious outweighs our conscious mind and thought by a factor of about nine to one.

Unless your unconscious and conscious minds are in agreement the subconscious will win.

Would you change if you could?

If you were given the opportunity to change would you take that opportunity and change?

Many times in our lives we are provided with opportunities to effect changes in our lives and we pass them up.

Our answer in these cases is that we wouldn’t change something if we could.  Either the pain is not too uncomfortable or the rewards for change are not sufficient incentive .

It’s interesting to note that people are more likely to change to avoid pain than they are to enjoy a more rewarding or pleasant position.

If you want to change and you want to take advantage of an opportunity to change, can you?

Often we have great intentions but we are unable to make the changes.  The question “Can you change?” really asks you to look deeply at any and all reasons why you have the current behaviour or situation on your life.

There may be deeply compelling reasons that mean you cannot change.

The end result is that you are willing to forgo the opportunity and maintain the status quo.

On Change

Change is frequently challenging and is often best achieved with the help and guidance of others.

Change is a natural phenomena.

Change can be facilitated by reviewing your beliefs and values.

Change allows you to fulfill your dreams.

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.

But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.

There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Change – May you have the capacity to change as you see fit for you and may that change lead you to a fuller and more enjoyable life.

Change is a constant in nature to be embraced and enjoyed rather than avoided or feared.
